I'm looking for a folder, with a blade 3.4-3.9", preferably combo edge, auto or manual, what is the best one I can get for under $200, blade meterial is my biggest concern (I like the good stuff) but I like one that looks nice too.

The best knife (for me) I have ever used on a daily basis, Spyderco Police combo edge VG-10 steel. It's been my EDC for 4 years.
I have my share of Sebenzas and customs, but this is the one I keep coming back to.

Benchmade 710HS (with M2 tool steel)
Benchmade 520 (with 154CM)
Spyderco Military (with CPMS30V)
Benchmade 520A (with S30V)

Not really a good question unless you let us know what you are going to use the knife for :)

I work in a grocery store and do a lot of box cutting, plastic straps, plastic wrap, but also I want the knife for general daily use off work, I want a good knife, but I don't really want to go over $200, Benchmade really has some nice stuff. I'm kinda torn between the whole serrated edge thing, as do I really need the combo edge?

How are the Benchmade 4200 or 5000

EDIT: It seems you can't buy automatic folders? I just tried to buy the BM 5000SBK and it required police or military documentation, I guess I'll get the BM 520SBK

For boxes you would want a half serrated blade, cuz you start at the top serration and use the strait edge to finish it off, been in the pizza business for 7 years now and I know all about cuttin boxes. You want at least half a strait edge for edc chores soooo much is dependent on a good strait edge especially slicing. but thats my .o2

I'll throw in an agreement with barrabas74 on the advantage of serrations.

The also come in handy with zip-ties and plastic banding.

Or, you could experiment with sharpening with various grits (medium, course, etc.) to achieve the desired cutting affect. Then there is playing with different areas of the blade with different grits. Naw, go with the serrations.

Skip the auto; even when legal to carry, its just too "scarry" for many and not worth the hassle.

I have it narrowed down to 2 knives

The Benchmade 520SBK and the 710HSSR

Most likely will go with the 710, the longer blade length is a plus and the M2 steel mmmmm

Why is the BM 520SBK more money then the superior 710HSSR which has a longer blade of better meterial?

Blade length appears to have little to do with cost (within an inch or two). Difference in cost of mateial, etc. is small.

The handle material (aluminum versus G10) makes a difference. Not too hip on metal handles myself.

Then there is the coating. BK1 versus ....

Then there is the new, g-whiz factor in regards to on the street price.

Search around on price, as I suspect they should price out at approximately the same (to me, thats +-10 bucks, nothin' to quibble over).

BM Mini Skirmish..........s30v......titanium handle...........framelock....good tight lockup....quality
