Help with knife identification

I just purchased an Ontario knife that appears to be a Mk2 fighting knife, but it has a sawback. From an old post here, I think it is a 498 Sawback Marine Combat Knife. It is marked "US" over "Ontario" on the ricasso. Other than the sawback, it is identical to a mil-surp Ontario I have. Even the sheath matches. The old post says Ontario discontinued the knife in 1996, but was it ever USGI in this configuration? Here's a pic: http://s1350.photobucket.com/user/ju...tml?sort=3&o=0
Thanks

The 498 was never issued in that configuration.

Made for the civilian market.

brboru7 you're right. I e-mailed Ontario and they replied:

We did manufacture the Sawback Combat Knife. It was discontinued in early 1997.
It is not a US Government Issued Knife with the sawback blade.
Manufactured in the late 1980’s and discontinued in 1997.

Oh well, still a pretty cool knife sitting next to my USGI Mark 2s.
