I have a brother in Iraq that is in need of a knife, he is a crew chief on a Blackhawk. He isn’t a knife enthusiast so his requirements are kind of vague, they are: 1 fixed blade with a blade length around 3 inches, 2 must be extremely easy to deploy, 3 can be easily attached to a flight vest. This knife will be used as an quick response tool to cut, stab or beat anything when the oh s**it happens. In my quick investigation I was thinking about the Tops Covert Anti Terrorism model but I’m not sure about the sheath. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

You might look at the Bark River Sandstorm. A bit longer than you stated but an excellent design. Another would be the CRKT SOTFB.

+1! Most RC-3's are included with a MOLLE sheath and a "jump-proof" system

I just picked up one of these knives and absolutely love it. It comes with a kydex sheath that will match Desert Camo. It's very well prices and is rock solid. Also, the sheath is MOLLE compatible and has a great retention system.

 on the RC-3 from RatCutlery . Also check out rangerknives.com
see what Justin has for you, it will be hard to beat his knife for the $ ;)

I'd lean towards an RC-3, Ranger is merging with Ontario and I doubt operations will start there in time for your. Rat Cutlery makes great knives. Good luck :)

I looked at the RC-3 and I think it is just what he is looking for. I think I will get the RC-3 and have his name and company engraved on it. I want to think every one for thier help and hopefully he never has to find out how tough the knife really is.

You won't be dissapointed with that knife.
