Hello all. I haven’t posted in awhile but I have a question. A guy at work wants me to make a horizontal behind the back sheath for his father-in-law. The problem I’m having is the size of the knife. It doesn’t seem feasible to me to carry a knife this size in that way. I’m including a picture of said knife. Please do not make fun of it. I realize the sheath will cost more than what he paid for the knife. Should I make an unfinished sheath that’s 100 percent functional? I.E. no finishing touches, so the guy can try it out? Or try to convince him to go with a different style? If the pic doesn’t work, the knife is a 6” blade and 11” overall. 2” tall.

Thanks, Jon

The pic won’t load. No matter what I try it says the file is too large. This one acted liked it worked, but I can’t see it.

Maybe try to make the the belt attachment loops in a way that so it will be possible to attach a hanger as well. Then if the horizontal carry doesn't work he can use it as a hanging sheath instead?

I have made SOB pancakes for knives that size. Take up some real estate but work.
Wow. It seems impractical in my mind. I am on the small side though (about 140 wet). I would love to see a picture or two of those.

I had a similar thought on that as well. It involves a “four way belt loop” for lack of a proper term. Think of a square with extra leather coming off the corners going out at 45 degree angles. Those would be sewn to attach it to the sheath. That way you could carry horizontal or up and down.

Thanks, Jon
