I have a Case toothpick and the shield fell out. I called Case and they sent three different replacement shields in less than a week....great customer service. Tang stamps are "Case XX USA" on one side and "610096 SS" on the other. I scanned the three shields they sent me. Can anyone tell me the correct shield?

thanks!

Off the top of my head the bottom one.
I need to do some research to make sure.

Well it could be the top one too :D.
Looks like a 93 to 99 manufacture date.

I would go with the top one. I carry a 6347 stockman made in 99 and it has the top shield. Not to steal the thread, but as a funny little side note here, in all my years of using and carrying knives, I've never once lost the shield to a knife. I read on here a few months ago about replacing a lost shield and danged if not just two days later on my knife due to a small crack in the handle above the shield the thing got gone at work! Luckily I found it the next day in a crack in the floor (don't ask me how, but I actually saw it!). A little super glue and it's been good to go ever since.

so it's looking like

2.5 votes for the top one....

.5 votes for the bottom one.

:)

I vote for the top one aswell. It looks like the shield I have on a few knives from the same time period. Not to be confused with expert advice however. Just my 2p.

I'm such an idiot. I was tapping the new shield into place....ever so gently...and friggen cracked the scale.

I deserve to be abused for this......please....don't hold back.

Now I feel guilty for not telling you to sand or file the shield first.:o

So who can recommend a course of action on getting this fixed? I'm a big angry with myself for being this stupid....but live and learn.
