I have decided to sell my Model 18 that was identified as being made in the 1970's several years ago by a Randall dealer. I had posted a request here to help further pin down a date, but I'm just going to use the 1970's timeframe to be on the safe side.

Well, I'm sure some of us could help pin down the age, and some of us may even be interested in buying the knife--but, we'll need some good quality photos and an accurate description...;)

Actually, I did see the photos while they were up, and the sheath was consistent with an early-70s time frame. That's about as far as I'm willing to go, though.

a stainless steel blade is typically more desireable and or valuable than a carbon steel blade, a forged Orlando blade is more desireable/valuable than a Solingen made blade--and while some would tell you otherwise, they would be wrong...

Maybe Melvin-Purvis can give you an answer AFTER he explains his statement from an earlier thread that he was questioned about months ago and never answered.

What about the above statement do you not get? It's pretty clear, and correct, in context, Bart1

Truly. And if he's waiting for a response, he's got a long wait ahead, because I happen to know Shel has put him on "ignore."

Clear and correct in context?? What does he base his statement(s) on? His own sales? Other's sales? Ebay sales? WHAT?

You can cover for him all you want, but apparently he doesn't have a clue as he spouts off his "facts". It is a pretty simple question, but when asked for an explanation of those "facts", he runs and hides or puts you on 'ignore'. Pretty gay, but if the shoe fits........

Whether he reads my posts personally or not is irrelevent, he will know as you will fill him in! Funny thing is, he still won't have the cahones to come here and answer the questions about his statement.

why is it hard to understand that since there is no OFFICIAL price guide we MUST follow that all comments on desirability are personal opinions based on personal experience?if you dont like his opinions dont accept them..

Looks to me that Melvin-Purvis is the one that doesn't like or accept others opinions wouldn't you say nagod?

To net it out for you, as you apparently have a hard time comprehending these posts, all I wanted him to explain is HOW DID HE COME TO THAT CONCLUSION as outlined in my post above and I quote:

"What does he base his statement(s) on? His own sales? Other's sales? Ebay sales? WHAT?"

Is it that difficult for you to understand ?

Among experienced Randall dealers/collectors Model #18's with stainless vs carbon, orlando vs solingen are more desireable , and valuable.... you can like what you like, pay what you pay, but I'll wager Melvin would have a consensus behind him that his statements were correct. Bart1 (RKS#132)

B52,

I've bought those for as low as $400 and sold for as high as $900 - somewhere in the middle I'd imagine. Lots of good photos and an accurate description will go a long way in helping sell it, if that indeed is your intent..

Thanks Melvin,
I just joined the forum today and according to my profile I cannot send any attachments.
Thanks for the reply.
