Guys maybe you can help,I was trompin with a buddy of mine in the Angeles National forest last month and was wondering what kind of droppings we had found. We both thought probably Mt. Lion but after seeing pictures of there droppings im not sure.
The droppings we had found were about 9-10 inches long one on top of another and about as round as a golf ball,it looked like there was about 3-5 pounds of droppings.
I know this is a sick question to some but what animal could drop a load that large,.......There were two spots about 5-6 feet from each other which contained these droppings,Im just wondering what in the hell it could be,it almost looked like human **** on steroids.
Any web pages you can point me to that might have this info,I did a search on mt lion droppings and seen some pictures of mt lion **** but it was nowhere near the same size,
Any help would be appreciated. Also the droppings looked to contain mostly hair, and it was pretty fresh:barf:.
If the terrain would help you
It was in a canyon where a stream ran through the middle lots of trees, rocks.
Thanks guys, please dont think im weird:D

Sounds more like bear scat, were there visible seeds and stuff? Mt Lionscat isnt that big around, and sometimes there will be hair in it but never seeds and such.

Hey Rob,No there were no seeds that I could see,Thats one of the reasons I didnt think it was a bear, its driving me crazy wondering which animal it is.

Black or brown in colour? Could easily be bear if bear are in that area especially after finishing a nice big rotten carcass:barf:
Only had experieence with cougars years aro working out in British Columbia and doesn't sound like their scats. Even a small bear can dump an enourmous amount after a big meal.
Then there are always the ferel buggers like the cougar from Arizona that was shot near us a few years ago I don't think he walked to north Quebec near Hudson Bay:rolleyes:

Rob,A hunter emailed me pictures of bear scat some of the pictures looked like it but most didnt he said that bear scat is black, but the scat that I had found was light brown.Maybe it was the light brown deer that it ate:D

Something I had forgotten in my posting haste is you almost never ever see Mountain Lion scat, they dig and cover it like a domestic cat. The only I have ever seen was hunting lions and the hounds sniffed it out.

On the other hand, I have seen brown colored bear scat. Not light brown mind you, more medium to dark.

And the last thing is, was there any other humans in the area? Could be someone took a dump in the trail and left it there for you to speculate on! :D

mrd74,You know ive gotten emails from people saying dont count out bigfoot poop:eek: Its time to bust out the good ol m1 garand for the next hikeing trip:D

Hey martinj, those are some of the pictures I looked at and it looked like nothing on there. It looked liked some pictures of bear scat that ive seen but bear scat is alot darker then this. The scat was a light brown and there was about 3-5 pounds of it in each pile.It had some hair in it but no berries,It looked like giant human scat with hair thats the best way I could describe it:barf:.Ive been getting people who are bigfoot trackers emailing me lol
