My Dad and his Dad collected Case knives all their lives. My Dad pasted Nov,3rd 2010 he left me his knife collection of 600ish knives, what i need help with is not the Case knives. But the Custom Knives he started collecting in the late 1970's I know nothing about Custom knives the makers are their value.

My Dad was from N.East Alabama not far from Chattanooga,tn

Some of the names on a few knives are: LITTLE,MADDOX,NEWTON,SPYDERCO, M.J. OLIVER, TERZUOLA.

Any Help will be appreciated.

Uh, what you better do is start some Google research on some of those...some pretty good names mentioned in there. You'll get a lot of feedback here but it sounds like you may have a pretty awesome collection. Any chance of some pics? A little more info on specific brands and models is needed to get the best advice here.

BTW, it's prohibited to discuss values here unless you are a certain level member. But you can certainly inquire about the knives themselves. Good luck with it.

Welcome to Bladeforums, Liftu! Belated condolences on the passing of your father.

Looks like he left you quite a collection. For example, Spyderco is a highly regarded knife manufacturer. They have their own website and a subform here at Bladeforums. Sal Glesser, their founder and president is personally active online, helping with questions and ideas. Bob Terzuola is a renowned custom knifemaker, seen as a major influence on the tactical knife concept.

I'm going to leave this open, with the notice that you need at least a Gold membership to ask about values. Here's some links about that:

See the FAQ for Bladeforums rules at http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/faq.php
Paid memberships at http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/payments.php
Exchange rules at http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=699&a=98

You need a Basic membership to post a trade thread.
You need a Gold membership to sell what you've bought,
a Knifemaker membership for what you have made,
or a Dealer membership if you sell for others.

Once you pay for your membership, go back to Paid Subscriptions to see when it takes effect. PayPal costs more and takes longer to go through. Credit card payments are automated.

Then go to Settings(upper right)
then to Permission Groups (left side)
then select your correct membership level.

I suggest browsing the FEEDBACK forum at the top of the Exchange forums, especially the stickies, for problems to watch out for. Browse the forums you are most likely to post in or buy from:, Dealer, Knifemaker, or Individual, to see how members communicate.

If you are interested in collecting this is a great helpful forum! Really fun set of folks from walks of life. If you are just looking to liquidate, you'll probably have some pretty voracious takers for much of that collection! With a gold membership everyone will help out on real values. Much of the view can be found via an Internet search!

I don't know about any of the others, but I know Spydercos aren't customs.

Post pics!!!

I am not a gold member because I am starting to collect some nice knives and don't have any to sell yet. However, if I were in your shoes I would certainly buy a gold membership and get some help with values. You will be able to sell a lot of them here as well.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your Father. Keeping the entire collection is what I'd do though, especially from your Grandfather on down. It's a connection that you may miss if you sold them.

We can't help you with values. But if you are having a hard time identifying the maker, origin, or age of a particular knife, the place to ask is the Bernard Levine Knife Identification forum area. Good photos are critical. Clear and in-focus, good lighting, and with closeups showing the makers mark and any other unique features.

Good luck with your quest, and welcome to Bladeforums.
