Help with my Skylines

I recently picked up 4 Skylines, 2 Orange and 2 Brown (from Kershawguy of course). One of my Brown Skylines is perfect, nothing wrong with it and the blade centering was perfect. However, I was examining my second Brown Skyline and I noticed that it wasn't centered and it was rubbing on the non-locking side. It was also leaving little black streaks along the inside of the G-10. I think that all I have to do is try the paper trick, and my problems should be solved. Now onto the Orange Skylines. Again, one Skyline came perfect. This is what's stumping me, my second Orange Skyline isn't completely centered, but It's pretty close. I was looking on the inside of the non-locking side of the G-10, and I noticed the same kind of black streaks that I found on my second Brown Skyline. I can see why the Brown Skyline would leave black streaks, but I don't understand what could be causing the Orange Skyline to have black streaks along the inside of the G-10. I checked to see if the blade was rubbing and it wasn't. It's still not completely centered, but It's still not touching the liner.

Maybe try taking apart both of the weird skylines and swap the liners..that worked for my skylines.

I could try that, and I thought about it, but I don't want to screw anything up. I just haven't built up the confidence. It would be my first knife that I did something to.

Could just be a bit dirty from manufacturing. Either way, it's likely something that would easily clean off if you ever got around to fully taking them apart. I wouldn't worry about it. The paper trick is easy, I'm sure you'll be able to center those right up with no trouble.

Aww damn, when you said help with your Skylines, I thought you meant help taking them off your hands! :D

I was gonna be all over that LOL

Yeah, I could see how it would be a bit dirtied up. I'm calm now, but I was kind of freaking out earlier about it. Hopefully I'll build up the confidence to take them apart and clean them off a bit. That can be a nice little project for me to do this weekend. I'm not really worried about the paper trick, because I've been reading the procedures that you go through and they all seem fairly easy to do. Thanks for your help.

These things are staying with me. I love them. Haven't put them down since I got them. I'm carrying an orange and a brown one right now. I'm hoping that I can round out the collection someday but I'll have to do some serious searching for the Damascus bladed one and I know that there's also a Ducks Unlimited and Red one. Then, I can try and get the BF Edition one. I think there was a version with a Red Snap-On, but I might be confusing that with another knife.

Here's the whole list:

1084 - black, fixed satin blade
1084OR - orange, fixed satin blade
1760 - black, satin blade
1760BFC - blue, stonewashed flat ground S30V blade
1760BRNCKT - brown, black blade
1760DAM - black, alabama damascus blade
1760OR - orange, satin blade
1760RD - red, satin blade
1760RDSO - red, satin blade with "Snap-On" engraving

The ducks unlimited one doesn't actually have it's own model number, they are all labeled 1760.

Thanks for the list. Wow, I can't believe I forgot the 2 fixed blades, silly me. I'm on my way there, only 8 more to go. Finding those Damascus and Ducks Unlimited models are going to be a nightmare, but the whole search is part of the fun, and finally getting those knives is well worth it.

You know, the Damascus ones aren't the hardest to find. At least it wasn't for me. The one I picked up on the Bay cost less than I saw a red Skyline go for a month ago. It closed at like $184 or something. I got so, so, so lucky, snagged both the red and Snap-On Skylines from one gent who was kind enough to give me a heads up when he was selling them. The only one I need is that Ducks piece... That'll never happen.

With my luck I won't see any of the 'rarer' models. Then, when I do see them, I won't have money. Oh well, the hunts half the enjoyement. If I do see any of the Ducks Unlimited, I'll let you know first. My turn to pass the favor to someone.

I actually have two ducks unlimited folders, one tanto and and one regular grind. The tanto is liner lock, and the regular ground one is a lockback lock.
