Hey, I am having one hell of a time customizing my M&P 15. I have gone to all the gun stores in Edmonton and no one can help me, this includes Milarm, the place where I dropped my $1700 on this thing. The biggest problem I am having is finding mags for it. It seems that all I can get are the 5 round mags, I am having a lot of trouble finding a 30 round pinned at 5 mag. The last place I was at said no they couldn't help me, but when I look on the rack behind the stupid bitch there is a M&P 15 with a 30 round pinned at 5 mag for sale right there. I am somewhat new to the AR community and I don't understand somethings, I thought all parts were interchangeable between all the different manufacturers? I was given a copy of "Green eyes and black rifles" with the purchase of the rifle and this is the impression I got from Kyle Lamb. Am I wrong about this? Will the picatinny rail on the Armalite not fit my Smith & Wesson? Can someone please offer me some help.

Sometimes a dealer with have a rifle in stock with an option that they don't carry separately. I'm betting this is your problem. I didn't know that you could buy AR's in Canada, cool!

It sounds like all you can get are 5 round magazines there (California is limited to 10 rounds), so why would you want a magazine that looks like a 30 but is only a 5?

Yeah, we can have anything we want as long as we do a six hour firearms safety course. There are limits put on the firearms here though, we are only allowed to have rifles with no more than a 5 round capacity (22 cal is exempt from this rule). Pistols I believe have no capacity restrictions, all my pistols have 10 round clips. Shotguns also have no restrictions. AR's and pistols are considered "restricted weapons" and are only allowed on licensed firing ranges, Hunting rifles and shotguns can be carried in your car or on the bus if you want as long as it has a trigger lock. Canada actually has very weak gun control laws compared to most nations, the States are the exemption to this of course. Oh, by no means are we allowed to have anything that is full auto, this is only reserved for military and police while on duty, god forbid the people have the ability to fight a unjust government. Its not as bad as everyone thinks it is here, just think California laws when you think of Canada's laws only we have absolutely no knife carry law what so ever. We can legally walk through the mall with a broad sword over our shoulder if we please...I do suggest common sense be used here though.

The reason I want the 30 round mag is because I like to hold the mag while shooting. Its just more comfortable for me. I am going to get the picattiny rails soon and I will then get a better gripping system that works for me. On a side note, if everything goes to straight shit in this world one could take a dremmel and drill out the pin turning the 5 round mag into a 30 round mag. Doing this is illegal here so I absolutely do not condone doing this if you catch my drift.

I know that in CA you can buy the "rebuild kits" for a larger magazine, you really need to have a shop that knows all the laws and what you can legally do. some shops do stuff that is questionable and some knows whats legal and that's all they do, but some don't know even that and therefore can't help you with what you're trying to do. I saw look for another shop and find one that will get you the 30 pinned at 5. or look for instructions on doing it yourself, if that is a legal option.
