You can't go wrong with a cold steel recon 1/recon 1 mini - only about $60ish on amazon, and while it does have aux 8 steel, it holds up really well, and is great for all the heavy work you can throw at it, mainly due to it's tri ad lock.

Sorry but I already own it! In fact I have been fondling it the whole time!

You beat me to it, Spydercos make quite a few if you want better steel

It's a bit pricier but you should look into the Emerson Super Commander, 4" Clip point, one of the best Emersons in my opinion

There are really some great folder options out there. Kershaws mentioned Emerson. They have several models to choose from with a clip blade. Since you already have a C.S. Recon and seem to like it, the Espada might be worth checking out.

Here's a fee other options thatvmight fill the bill...

-Benchmade Onslaught and Bedlam
-Spyderco Navaja and Battlestation (only about a 3 inch blade)
-Boker Uolcos, Squail (not a true bowie or clip but handled one at the store today
and GOD what a great knife for the money) or higher end kalashnikov/kal models

While you may never find the "perfect fit", its the search thats the fun part.

What about a cold steel voyager tanto large or a kershaw emerson CQC-7K?
I think tbe idea was the o.p was looking for bowie/clip point blades and a little higher end knives (around $200). Those are both tantos in the 30 to 40 dollar range. Great knives (although i have a hatred for tanto blades) for the money.
