Help with new grinder

I'm ordering a new 2x72 from Oregon Blade Maker and I'm confused at which motor to get. They have 2hp vfd, 1hp vfd. And 1.5 hp single phase. I have a 110 on an old Edison fuse box. The fuses in the box say 15. I know I have to rewire my shop. It's happening this year. So I know that. I just want to know the largest motor I can run. I've emailed obm and I need other opinions. I run a Dayton 2x42 and drill press and other tools all at once no problem currently. Thanks guys

How many amps do their motor choices pull?
The more motor the better and a VFD makes this REALLY nice for handle shaping and finish grinding
 
Well I seem to be getting generalized answers. I think we're just having some confusion in communication. They cannot answer phone calls due to speech issues so I have to email them. Very nice people. TOM has been emailing me. He just said that both motors w vfd pull about the same amps and do not trip a household breaker so I don't know. I have one of those older Edison breakers and the fuses both say 15amp and are blue w one yellow that's 15 too. I'll include pics here too
 
I can afford the biggest motor but I'm afraid it won't work in my shop they have two vfd motor options 2hp and 1hp. Also have a single phase(not vfd) 1.5 motor. All motors enclosed and fan cooled
 
On 110vac, a 1.5hp will pull close to 20amps on start up and under full load. You MIGHT get away with a slow blow 15amp fuse, or upgrading to a 20amp fuse, but you’ll likely be pushing the limits of that circuit, especially if there’s anything else connected to it at the same time. I imagine you’ll be changing a lot of fuses between now and the rewire. A 1hp setup would likely work ok. Depending on how you grind, you may wish to upgrade down the road, though a lot of guys claim 1hp works just fine for everything they do.
 
The 1hp vfd? Or 1 hp single phase? Not electrically inclined so I'm in the dark lol. Will the vfd pull amps too?
You should be fine with either. A VFD will draw some additional amps, but you should still have enough room on a 15A circuit to run it. I wouldn’t run anything else on the circuit if I could help it, and keep cord length to a minimum.

If you plan on upgrading the wiring, then buying the grinder and motor now doesn't make sense really. Once you upgrade the wiring you will want to upgrade the motor, right?
 
The 2hp motor/VFD will ONLY pull full 20 amp load when you're hogging to max trying to stall motor. For normal grinding that 15 amp 120 vac circuit will work just fine. The BIG thing to check is to be sure the VFD will run on 120 vac. As long as the VFD can be wired to 120 vac you're in good shape. IF you do put too much pressure drawing too many amps, (exceeding around 1.5 hp) you'll just trip setting in VFD. Oh, you'll set VFD for max current of 15 amp draw (or better 12 amp) so you don't trip breakers in panel.

On overload the VFD will simply stop motor running, you'll reset and continue with less pressure. Then once you do get shop rewired for 220 vac you can change the VFD to 220 vac and in great shape to use full 2hp.
 
You should look at, verify that circuit what feeds that fusebox. It appears to be 240V.
If its a proper 30A circuit. Inside that subpanel shown, you can easily make one of those 15A circuits into 20A.
As it appears its a 240V subpanel, You might as well run your grinder on 240V.
Said that, It appears no neutral conductor is present for 120V loads. Using EGC as neutral 'will work' but bad electrical practice.

Can you get another photo showing both sides of fuses? To see the wires on left side of fuses as well as the wires on right side. From what I'm seeing it looks like the black and white wires coming in at top might both be 120vac and using the bare ground wire as the neutral. As Lieblad says using that bare wire as neutral isn't best idea at all.
