Help with paracord wrapping handle

I ran into a problem when trying to wrap a knife handle in paracord. I have it wrapped like this,

.. Basically just a wrap around the handle, no fancy crossing and weaving.
The problem is how do I tie those ends off and make it look professional? If I tucked the extra cord under the already wrapped paracord that's already on the handle there would be a big bulge on one side of the handle. ( the red dots are where the 2 holes are drilled for the cord)

I've looked everywhere online but can't find anything that shows how makers wrap knife handles in paracord. I know there are also other ways of wrapping such as crossing over which gives it a different look but am unsure how to do that.
I am wrapping it with the 7 inner strings still in the cord, I think it would be better feeling in the hand than having just flat gutted paracord.

I made the holes in the knife big enough to push the paracord through the holes twice since I was unsure how I needed to wrap it. Next time should I just make a smaller hole so it only fits the paracord through once?

Anyone who can help me figure out how to wrap this well, I'd appreciate that.
 
Looks like I might need to remake the knife and redesign where to put the holes. If anyone knows of any simpler wrapping methods where the 2 holes I have drilled will work please share.

I'm going to try that runningdog method and see how it turns out...might work.

I basically use the first part of what Ben posted. I use standard paracord with the inner strands intact. By picking which side the small "hump" is on I can make it right or left handed, it's like a small palm swell and is actually kind of nice. I rarely epoxy, just melt the ends a bit so they don't fray and look messy. Just be careful not to slip if you're doing this with a sharpened knife. Cover the edge with some tape and be careful.
 
I just take a small flat spatula tool and tuck the ends in......*shrug*
