Want to buy my first Spyderco. I would like some sugestions. What is so great, whats the best models, la da da etc..
thanks

It depends a lot what you are going to do with it

if you want a super heavy duty folder get the Chinook. it's big and bombproof.

if you want a gentlemans folder get the Viele. it recently came out in VG 10 steel and is one of the smoothest opening spydercos.

for a smaller knife I would get a Standard or a Rookie with G10 handle. they are heavy duty small knives and feel awesome in the hand.

I love the G-10 harpy personally. i'ts been discontinued like the Standard or rookie but you can find them easy on Ebay.

also look at the Lum Chinese for something different. it is useful for a lot of different applications and would be an excellent EDC for light to medium duty and even MBC

these are just my opinions and it is pretty much the list that I have compiled for myself. it should be a good start anyway

My first Spyderco was a full size Wegner. I still like that knife a lot. I used it this deer season to gut my buck so it's still getting blood on it. I own a lot of different ones now but that original Wegner introduced me to all the nice things about Spydercos. And they are discontinued?!?! So some places are selling them at reduced rates. Get the one in plain edge.

You need to find a dealer near you so you can go and handle as many as possible. On the Spyderco website they have a dealer search. Once you have an idea of which you like best, buy it, and put all the others on layaway. :) Good luck. :)

All spydercos are pretty cool.

A good start would be the new Delica or Endura. Both are great, and are even better now that they come in VG10 with a flat grind.

The calypso jr. would also be great. Light weight, awesome cutting ability.

Try the new and amazing compression lock with the new vesuvius.

Or, in the higher end, how about the military, or the wegner?

All of em are great. You really can't miss. :)
