That pretty much sums it up. Audio with video would be ideal, but just audio would be acceptable. Anyone know a quick and easy way to get it done? My goal is to capture the stream and burn it to a CD.

Don't know about direct capture (perhaps one of the paid versions of RealPLayer offers that option too) but you could always "play" the stream on your digital audio out (S/PDIF)and capture it using matching piece of equipment (recorder with S/PDIF input). No signal degradation there in D/A and subsequent A/D conversion. CHecking out whether paid version of RP has the "capture" option woudl be a better (cheaper) choice though :D

I don't know about quick and easy, but I've heard of it being done. This was a few years ago, so I'm not sure if the RealAudio spec has changed since then. It's probably made a moving target so that Real can force their bloated player on everyone.

However, I think that reverse-engineered codecs are available. A quick search for "realaudio capture" on Google found this: Real7ime Converter (R7C). Beware though, as it's a Russian site. Scan for viruses. Better yet, search for something more recent (not from 2002) and from a more trustworthy source.

MPlayer on Linux can play Real streams (rtsp). Not sure about capturing, but I wouldn't be surprised to find the capability. Setting up the codecs can be time-consuming if the stars aren't right.
