i have a schrade sch402l ceramic knife and it worked great until I let someone use it to cut some carpeting and it dulled quite a bit. I have a gatco diamond sharpening kit and ive tried to sharpen it many times and it wont take an edge. I can see on the stones that its clearly removing material but it wont sharpen. im pretty confident that the problem is the knife not the sharpener, ive sharpened countless knives with the gatco and every single one comes out shaving hair except this schrade. if you have any recommendations please respond.

thanks, colin

Have you tried the "sharpie trick" to make sure you are grinding at the correct angle and apexing the edge?

Yes, it's funny you mention that because I do for all knives even if I know the angle. It's just a habit I got into. So to answer you yes I did lol

what grits are those diamond?
I've read on the internet its possible if you use very very very light force (under 1lb) with grits higher than 1200
This guy says he used 6micron diamond paste ... might be something around like 3000 grit automotive sandpaper based on The Grand Unified Grit Chart
Sharpening a black ceramic kitchen knife
▶ Ceramic knife sharpening - slicing triple layer toilet paper with a black ceramic kitchen knife - Job Cohen
▶ Testing the new edge on a freshly sharpened white ceramic knife - slicing a tomato - Job Cohen

update: yeah shaping done with 220grit silicon carbide stone which can act like a 1000grit stone
