Help with sharpening on small belt sander

I need some advice on technique. I bought a small belt sander from Harbor Freight to sharpen my broadheads with. It works great! I have sharpened a few knives and I am having an issue that I don't get with my broadheads. I slightly rounded the tip of my clip point blade. I understand that this is a common issue, but I'm not sure what I need to do to correct it. Any help is appreciated.

Exactly as DeAdEyE said. What's happening is you are letting the tip "fall" off the edge, which causes a beveling effect. This happans with belts because it will "fold over" with the edge, intensifying the beveling effect.

I stop the tip just as it reaches the belt, then check (use sharpie). Use a very light touch with very little pressure on the belt. Then as the very tip contacts the belt pull the knife away. Stop and see where you are hitting the point then adjust.

Each knife will be little different depending on tip shape and amount of belly.
