Hey Everybody......

Please help us move the Tennessee Knife Rights Bill...We just got word that HB0581 which would get rid of the Switchblade ban and preempt local cities and villages from outlawing knives is being held up in The Tennessee House Ways and means Committee........

If you work or live in Tennessee please call the House Ways and Means Committee Chair Mike Harrison at 615 741 7480 and POLITELY ask him to move HB0581 to a vote in the committee.......

If you get voicemail please leave a message for him to move the bill along....

After you call please email him at rep.mike.harrison@capitol.tn.gov and ask him to move HB0581 to a vote....Please also remind him that the Tn Senate passed it's companion bill 27-3......

Be short, be polite and keep on point.......

Thanks in advance guys.....Feel free to bug your friends and neighbors to call too.....

The Knife Rights community has spent a bunch of time on this and it is a good bill and will be good for all of us.......Calls and emails from a few good people should see passage and if a bunch more than a few get to him .....All the better..........

Is there a place i can easily search to see if similar legislation is on the books in SC?

Good luck to you TN folk

I'm new to following bills and the process but I've been watching this one (on the live feed) every step of the way. Its passed effortlessly so far.

I'm curious though. I know that the Finance subcommittee pushed the bill a week and it is back on the calendar for 4/3/2013. If the chairman is trying to make it fail, does that mean that he will just continue to push it every week? How do we know that he is trying to kill it? Just trying to get more informed here.

I'm gonna do this as soon as I have time from school to write the email, this would be great, even if it won't affect me too much as my choice in knives is currently allowed, but interests change and i'm likely to want to carry something that is illegal under current law sooner or later. I live in Bristol, TN or Blacksburg, VA (depending on school).

and wow, it never really clicked that Ethan was in east TN

This just in from the frontlines..........

HB0581 would allow the possession of automatic/switchblade knives and enact knife law preemption which would make the state the sole authority on knife laws, which will create consistency throughout Tennessee. Please contact Rep Harrison NOW!

Keep at 'em, the initial onslaught worked very, very well.

Moose

Good luck everyone!

I'm hoping that success will continue to breed success and preemption will come here too.

So besides autos what does this mean for KS are fixed blades ok? Size restriction?

the way I read it opens up possession/carry of fixed, autos, no blade restrictions were listed, etc.... and it prohibits municipalities from posting restrictions.

First .......A thank you to Moose.....

Annnnnnd a greaat big thank you to all who have helped with this.......There are some really goofy things in the current law including a penalty for carrying a knife longer than four inches with "an intent to go armed" what ever that means......

It ain't over until the governor signs so, we may have another go round in the near future but, things look good...... Keep those phones a ringing and those emails a flyin' and we will have a nice little Addition to our freedoms instead of a subtraction which seems all too commonplace these days....YAY, Woot, woot..... YAY!!!!.....

I wish the best of luck to y'all over there. It looks like you guys are making some positive steps forward. If we can only get the rest of the country to open their eyes we would be in good shape. Along with knife rights we have to make a stand for our gun rights as well! If we can only get people to realize that taking guns away from good law abiding citizens will do nothing against crime and person on person violence! The weapons will be out of our hands, but the thugs are gunna get them anyway on the black market.Hell! Crack is against the law to use and have but guess what? People are still going to do it! And if someone wants to kill somebody, they will find a way,gun knife or not! Like the old saying.. "Weapons don't kill, people do!" I know you guys already know all this but these are the points we need to bring up. Ok I'm done ranting now.
