The name on this knife is C.R. Sigman.. I aquired it about 1988 in CT. I would like too know something about the maker , also would a knife like this be a suitable bushcraft knife or is it more of a small hunting knife..The blade is stainless and 3 1/2 in long , the handle is stag. I havn't seen it for a good number of years it was with some gear that was stored away.

That would be one of the late Corbet R. Sigman's knives. Google his name and you will find some info and pictures.

As for whether the knife is big enough for bushcraft or hunting, it's really just a personal preference. So it's up to you to decide.

I just found this knife in some gear that was stored for some time. Does any one know of C.R. Sigman. I purcased the knife in 1989 in central CT. The overall length is 7in. , the blade is stainless and 3in. Grips are stag.. Would this be considered a small hunting knife , could it be used for bushcraft?

I merged your two threads to make it easier to keep track of the answers.

It is a small hunter but would work pretty well as a bushcrafter, most of which don't use a guard, but that lower guard isn't very obtrusive.

sigman was a great maker, high quality, popular with makers & knife people.had quite a few articles written about him.your knife might have collector value.sigman was talented & did it all. i believe did some fofging earlier on.was up on newest steels & tech.info at that time.i ca'nt remember when he passed,in 90s i think.was widely recognised & RESPECTED.

I am new too this forum . Thanks for quick replies and the post merge !! .. I googled the makers name and got some useful information. It wonder if the knife may be more collectible than useful ? Any opinions or information??
I did manage too find the original sheath.

I wouldn't use it as a bushcraft beater. It's definately a collectable. If you aren't interested in keeping it as a collectable, put it up for sale here in the for sale by owner forum and take the money and buy yourself a more appropriate bushcraft knife.

Post your pictures in Bernard Levine's forum. He will be able to tell you more about the knife and give you a value.
