My girlfriend inherited these. I know nothing about swords. They are obviously most likely decorative, but I was wondering if anyone knew any info on the maker or if these are worth anything at all? 3 piece set with bag and stand. Appears to be bone wrapped handles. Marked SPAIN.
Thanks!

I know that Marto makes all kinds of swords, but seeing that their mark is not on the blade it could be some other company. They look to be mostly decorative, tho.

Might want to review the sticky at the top of this section. Looks pretty cheap to me.

Now I remember why I never come on this site...I shouldn't need a membership to just talk about the value of something.
Oh well.
I figured they weren't worth much.
thanks guys

You should absolutely need a membership to talk about value....because the next thing you know...wink...wink, you will be e-mailing people letting them know that these great awesome pieces....are...wink ...wink for sale.

This is not a non-profit website...the cost of membership is quite inexpensive....your absence will be missed greatly.

I'm a member of at least 30 forums. None of them require a membership to talk about value. They trust that people aren't going to abuse the system and spam their stuff.

If you're a dealer and you're advertising your shop, you should have to pay to be in a forum. Other than that, the point of them is to share information. Put ads on the site if you want to make money off of it.
Doesn't matter anyway...this site has pissed me off for so many reasons in the past so I won't be coming back either way, I just thought it was ironic the one post I make in a year is against the rules. haha.

have fun guys.

As to the rules...you agreed to them when you joined. If you don't wish to abide by them all you need do is log off and never log on again. If you wish to continue discussing these swords, edit out the request about value. We are glad to talk about your swords.

The swords look to be tourist swords and are just for display, not for cutting. Most aren't even hardened.

Yet, this one and a number of others do. :)

Looking at ebay and other internet offerings (even Amazon) can give one a sense of value.

The bone look you see us either real ray skin on wood or plastic on wood or entirely plastic. Mart and Art Gladius are generally regarded as the higher price decorative swords and they generally mark them. Marto was absorbed by United Cutlery some years ago and Art Gladius may be defunct at this point.
