Help with thread display order

I cannot seem to get threads to display in a chronological order no matter what I try. The first post in a thread is always the last one listed for me, this makes really tough to follow WIP's etc. as I have to go to the last post of the last page and scroll backwards through all the posts--which makes you see what someone has finished display first as you go through the posts. --HELP!!
