Help with titanium liner

I drilled a hole so I could thread a titanium liner and the dang tip of the tap broke in there and I cant get it out. Is there a way to get out and use the same hole, or do I need to make a new scale and relocate the pocket clip? I started this folder with Don Robinson at his shop. He showed me what to do and how to do it, and got the mechanical part working perfect. I did the rest and have done nothing but goof things up.

Drop it into some ferric chloride over night, It will eat that tap right out and not bother the titanium one bit.

That is an easy fix! :)

Maybe that the hole was too small. Not sure what drill size you used but you kinda have to throw the rule book out with ti, particularly thicker slabs of it. Try a number 47 drill bit if you used something else. Use a thread forming tap and Molly Dee cutting oil. If its really thick you might drill the number 47 and come in from the back or rather underside with a #44 or #43 so all you have to thread is the last .050 + or - and that will save you from having to soak it overnight again. Number two taps take about 24 hours to get eaten away. You'll have to re-bead blast or re finish the slab once it is soaked but otherwise it won't be any worse for the wear.

I've used FC and HCI. Usually I can drop it in and use a dental pick to pull chunks out after a couple hours. If you use HCI, you can get it out by the time you've grabbed lunch. If you don't have it, FC works just fine.

Thanks for your help Acrid I taped from the opposite side and it went very easy. The ferric chloride trick is in my bag o tricks now. Thanks guys!!!!! I just installed my first pocket clip!
