i went to rei and tried on the swiss army watch liked how i felt. it has great reviews but im not sure if i like the styling of it. the reason im leaning towards the swiss is because i have gift cards to rei. i like how the citizen watch looks and i like that i dont need to worry about batteries. so if anyone has any imput thatd be great!!

thank you dylan

I'm wearing this watch now and love it. But I didn't pay the high price that countycomm wanted for it. As a side note this has nothing to do with your question but I thought it was a good place to post a pic of my new watch.

Freakin' BFs double post. This forum hates me!

May I ask were you did get it? I liked the look of that one a lot, but the Countycomm price was high...

I'd rather not say since it was a friend of mine who got it for me.

Either Citizen is fine, take the chronograph version if you use this function.

I have 2 citizen and I have to say that I really like them, they are great, plus the eco-drive system is really great, no worries about battery so no worries about waterproofing.

I have no experience with any swiss army watches so I'll leave that to others, the only con I see to it is the battery power, so it will die on you, never know when, I hate when this happens.

One thing to consider though, is it readable in the dark ?

Both my citizens (Skyhawk and Nighthawk) are very readable in the dark, but don't know about these.
I had great experiences with my citizens eco-drive and they have never failed me.
I say they are great choices.

Both Eco-drives are good imo... I bought my ex-gf one (long time ago) and it worked great (probably still does). Now my wife wears one and she is very happy with it, doesn't have to bother with batteries and stuff.

I don't know about the swiss army one though. I wear a Seiko kinetic... going on 10 years now, still works like a charm. Give them a look...

The Casio GShocks are awesome watches, used one for about two years and shattered the face rock climbing. Free diving off the Emerald coast, rolling around in the Florida sand doing weeklong FTX's, it held up to alot of abuse. I upgraded after that to a Suunto XLander Military from BoTech for about half the MSRP and I just adore this watch. Spent the last two years beating on it and there's not a scratch anywhere. Small enough that I don't notice it, the band is nice and comfy, I almost never have to take it off outside of some few and far between job stipulations.

does anyone know how reliable the compasses are on the g-shocks or any of the other watches......Drew

My Suunto Xlander is still true to about 3 degrees, according to my Commenga compass and that thing doesn't lie. I haven't collaborated the compass on it yet.

My Suunto Observer has a very accurate electronic compass. I have to re-calibrate every so often, but that is a quick procedure.

FWIW, if you are in the service or other guvmt job, you can order through the GSA catalog. They are priced pretty well there.

froogle.com and ebay... when the price isn't low enough for you, diligence in shopping can help you find it cheaper. I got my XLander Military, which is like 400 dollars, for less than 200 through Botech Tactical. Found them on froogle and they are continually the cheapest place to find Suunto watches.
