When sharpening ive found its easier to sharpen and maintain a consistant angle in one direction because of the way my wrist will bend, and i was wondering if there are any tricks that will help eliminate the problem of inconsistancy?

i injured my left wrist in a fall and i have limited range of motion which makes hand sharpening difficult but i can still sharpen that way if i need to. i switched to an ez sharp which is similar to a lansky after my injury. i used that for several years until a friend showed me a set of paper wheels which i have been using for the past 17 years. check out this thread if you want to get a good edge and the video too. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=578787 http://knifetests.com/kII.html

Another option would be to use a Sharpmaker. All you have to do is hold the knife vertical.

I already use a sharpmaker, i was wondering what others do to compensate while free handing.

When I use the stone, I use my whole upper body to move the blade on the stone and keep my wrists and arms locked to maintain the angle.
