I got my black linen micarta scales rough cut on my knife. What is the easiest method to form the handles with simple hand tools? The closest things I have in the power tool line up is a drill and dremel tool.

BTW, almost drilled completely thru the micarta when counter-sinking my rivet holes. The bit would grab the micarta and almost pull thru. Any better ways to drill without using a drill press?

Dang, christmas is coming too slowwww. I have a cootes grinder in a box, but it is a present from my boys (I hate surprises

Ex,

A drill press is essential. Check out http://www.harborfreight.com/ . They have a special $39.95 special on their 5 speed model (laugh if you guys want to, but its better than nothing). If you have a store nearby, you could check it for play/runout in advance.

GET A DRILL PRESS! I bought one this summer for 89 bucks Canadian. A drill press is more important than a grinder! You can chuck a buffing wheel in there too!
As far as dand tools and micarta, get a rough file and lots of coarse sand paper. It will take you a while! Oh, buy a respirator too. Micarta, dymondwood, g-10 and other materials are VERY nasty on your body.
