New to bladeforums. I have been browsing at various websites but am overloaded. My desire is folder, liner lock, plain edge, blade less than or =3 inches. I want a very light knife, I guess that means titanium. I have looked at the Reeves sm sebenza but its a bit too costly for me. Have looked at Paragon and microtech also. I may be too vague for some of the experts here, but can someone give me a few hints at some brands i can look at. Thank you
Ron

Spyderco Wegner Jr.

I just picked up a spare set at Discount Knives, the plain edged version is getting harder to find.

The Small Sebenza would be ideal, but with a smaller price tag try a Spyderco Native with G10 handles or a Benchmade 705 axis.
The search for the perfect knife continues.

If you like the Sebenza, but don't want to spend the money on it, take a look at the Benchmade Pinnacle. It sounds like what ya want.

Welcome to Blade Forums. You are among friends.

Try something by CRKT. Quality knives at a great price and as tough as woodpecker lips. The small Point Guard, Navajo or Apache II should fit your requirements to a tee.

You can get them at a really good price from 1SKS, Cumberland Knives or one of the other dealers who support this forum.

Happy shopping.

I haven't handled one yet, but the REKAT Carnivore Cub might fit your needs. The blade is just over the 3 inch mark. 1SKS here sells it as well.

Benchmade 905 mini-Stryker. 2.9" tanto blade. Ground on both sides (not chisel ground). Light weight. I don't own one, but it was tempting to get one.

I prefer bigger knives, so I own the full size Stryker.

Get one of the Carson Magnas from Outdoor edge. Great price, decent steel and excellent production.

Welcome to the forums, thanks for posting.

I love Benchmade. And don't just look at liner locks. The Axis lock is even stronger, from what I hear. I will be purchasing a BM 710 or 730 soon. Pick a blade shape and BM will have one in the size you want and probably even a liner or axis lock. Check their website and then I would suggest buying it here or at one of the dealers who support this site. You'll get a good deal.

Don't forget the William Henry carbon fiber series. If you're looking for knives to chop and pry with you're better off looking elsewhere, but if you're looking for very light knives that really cut well, these are worth a look.

I'll second Joel's recommendation of the William Henry CF series. The Lancet (2 5/8" blade) is so light that you can carry it in your dress shirt pocket if you want (and classy enough that it looks like it belongs there). Right now I have mine clipped to my shirt, underneath my tie; doesn't pull my shirt off-line at all.

Signature line needed. Apply within.

I just ordered a CRKT small Point Guard.
It's small and light weight so you might want to check it out.

You forgot to mention your price point. If you can spend the bucks, A William Henry CF 12, or maybe a 10 would fit the bill.If you are on a budget, try a small CRKT Zytel model m-16. they are tough, lightweight and very reasonably priced.
Basically, all the knives listed above would serve you well. Best to get your fingers aroung some of them and see what fits you. Good luck and welcome aboard!

I carry a Spyerco Centofante C25 plain edge. It's a very light knife (2.3 oz) with a 2 7/8 inch plain edged ATS-34 blade. Although it is standard liner lock, the liner is only on one side of the knife and is inset into the textured G-10 scales. It also has a back-up 'secure-lock' mechanism that makes the lock-up extremely dependable. I really like the flat ground blade. It has a very useful and pointy tip. For opening mail, packages, oranges, and cutting string, it's a great little knife. They are available at www.knifecenter.com for about $90. They have the serrated and plain edge photos mixed up, but look at:

I'll second the Wegner jr. Excellent knife. They are getting harder to find. I would also recommend the Benchmade 705 axis lock. Columbia River is also making a smaller version of the S-2.

I have had my Benchmade 705 for a week now and can't stop looking at it! It's built like a tank and the axis lock is wonderful! I highly recommend it..you can't go wrong!
