I'm looking for a decent fixed blade 5inches something that would be good I in all situations.

Not sure if you realize how vague your description is. Good in all situations? From chopping branches to picking splinters to everything in between. 3" blade to 9" blade? USA made or Made in China? Coated, uncoated, carbon steel, stainless, tanto, clip point, drop point, serrated, plain edge? There are tons of choices.

im a fan of benchmade, kabard, crkt, and gerber i would like usa made but i know that they make good knive in taiwan and china something tanto would be nice. also serrated aus 8 stainless steel and coated black preferably

aus 8 stainless steel would keep the cost down but i know it makes for a decent blade I want something that would do great in the wilderness hunting and combat/self defense

Are you anticipating being attacked while in the wilderness hunting? Surely you will have a gun or archery gear with you. I would think that combat/self defense would involve the military, and therefore you would be armed with supplied self defense weapons and training.
Just trying to understand where you are coming from.

Blessings,

Omar

i was looking at buying my friends crkt m60 sotfb would it be a good choice or could i find something better within my buget?

Esee, becker, condor, mora. There's plenty in your budget, just look through some of their designs and pick something you like.

I would look at the ESEE 4. Great tough knife. Made in USA. Forever no questions asked warranty.

Also, take a look at the Ka-Bar web page. Lots of good knives there within your budget,

Welcome. Get that knife. You want a serrated, black coated tanto for "combat" and self-defense. It's perfect for you. You know you want it. So buy it. Enjoy it. Love it.:thumbup:

It's utterly worthless for outdoor recreation like hunting, fishing, camping, or hiking. It's no more or less effective than any other knife for self-defense. And for combat...what the vast majority of members here who do or have served suggest is a good multitool.

But...it sounds like that knife gets your motor running and buying it would make you happy. So do that! In the end, that's the most important part.

I found the knife that i want its not serrated but its tough durable and great all around KA-BAR bk22! Thanks for all the advice i really appreciate it.

KaBar makes a solid knife, look into a BK9 if you want a good chopper for not a lot of money. The company is great and they have a good warranty.

Best post in this thread. Great advice.
Though, to be realistic, one could, technically, use a knife like the one described for outdoor activities. It'd be a horrible choice, but seeing as it's a piece of relatively pure and strong metal with a sharp edge, it would, theoretically, be able to, more or less, perform the aforementioned activities.
But a twenty dollar Mora would do them better.
