Did Pacific Cutlery ever number anything resembling a BM42. For example the same way the number their current prototypes.

I'm talking to someone about buying a knife that he said he bought in the late 80's for $250 it looks like the 42, with a butterfly on one side and the number 345 on the other.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

From the sounds of it, it could be any of the benchmade co. that produced it. Being numbered I would asy that it is a first run or a pre-pro.

Can you be more specific with the details of the knife?

Pac Cut did not follow the Prototype/pre-pro/first-pro numbering scheme that Benchmade does. This is, in fact, a new thing for Benchmade.

Pac Cut did some numbered edtions, but they were numbered on the spine.

does it look like the balisong on my cover page? it's probably a PC model 403. Back in the day independent mail order companies ordered custom sets of say 200 from PC so customers woudl go thru them and get a 'numbered' instantly instead of PC and wait... I have one like it in a narrow modified 402 shape.
