Hi everyone, so I've had three different BMs and not kept any of them. I had a blue mini grip that I liked OK, but got rid of without giving it a fair trial. I had a 300 flipper that was fun to play with, but I gave it to my dad because he really liked it, and I'm not sure I want to buy another. Finally I had a 530 that was sooooooo close to being perfect. My only problem with it was difficulty in accessing the thumb stud. My question is, can you tell me the best knife UNDER 150 that keeps most of these qualities? Should I try another mini grip? Thanks!

I personally would go with a few others before a grip....You got the 710 which is well regarded among most as a top benchmade lurking at 150 range, 705 is it's smaller cousin. Then I would probably chose a north fork in the G-10. If you want an assisted a volli or grey G-10 barrage would be in your range. OR grab the H&K axis or axis mini, well under your price range to kick the tires. If you look around on the exchange you can find a 940 probably in the price range too. I picked my 943 up like new for well under 150. There is a lot of choices out there.

The 710 is a good choice for a manual knife, and the Volli is another good choice for assisted. What I've said for years is: If you have a local dealer nearby, take the time to go in and look. Just doing that has helped over the years and some I looked at online didn't pass, but in my hand proved to be surprises in a good way. Most of us have a 710, 94x, a Grip, (esp. the Ritter variety) as part of the base lineup. You can't go wrong with any of these.

Great advice given! Keep an eye on the Exchange for a 94x or a 710. They pop up all the time for great prices! And both are amazing knives! Just amazing!
Good luck!

I agree with Joe, can't go wrong with the 940 or 710 series.

Another vote here: if you like a bigger folder, go with 710. Otherwise, get a 940.

I will second the recommendation for the North Fork and/or a 940. Two of the best I've handled.

Believe it or not, there are a ton of Benchmade's going for less than $150 on the secondary market, including the 810 Contego, 275 Adamas, and the 940. Heck, I think Knifeworks.com is selling their dealer exclusive 710 and 810 (upgraded steels and scales) for $160,if you can save up another $10 in the next month or two.
