got these two from a family member but don’t know anything about them. One is a “The American Hone” in box with old paper certificate and instructions. The other is a “Washita Mountain Whetstone Company” tristone. Both are like new. Are they worth anything or can I use them. Only information I could find is for the hone, company went out of business in the 20s. Any help from you collectors

You're not allowed to ask about values, but I will say that I know of zero sharpening stone collectors and that if someone found these at a thrift or antique store they'd probably use them.
However the sharpening stones of the old days were softer and will not sharpen a modern super steel very well.
If you've got a slipjoint ( old or new ) or 420hc buck knife this stone would probably work very well.

Sorry about that. Was just worried to ruin a collectible. Not wanting to sell. Tried to hone my belt knife with the hone and it did quite well.

Yeah, reading the rules will tell you all you need to know.
You didn't ask what these are worth, but you still may want to avoid the word value or valuable just to be safe.

Now the mods will probably move this to maintainence tinkering and imbelishment , that's where sharpening realted things get discussed and you'll get better answers there.
I've never heard of anyone collecting sharpening stones but they are a consumable item, It's old and there's probably not many around anymore but that doesn't always mean it will be collectable.
If I had this stone I'd use it , but you may want to get some more opinions.
In the end it is yours to do what you want with, but then again you could always just by a new Norton stone to use I'd this does happen to be collectable.

A hone steel however isn't consumable, so I belive anyone would use it without thinking twice.
