Hey Guy's, i recieved my # 27 Tanto folder today and WOW !!! what a BEAST !! This thing is the most amazing folder i've ever seen, can't wait to show the guy's at my station !!! One problem though,as i looked into the liner area i saw (To my surprise)what looked like surface rust close to where the liner lock engages the blade!!! I was under the impression that the liner was made out of Titanium !!! Was i wrong to assume this ??? And could this be something left over from the Heat Treat ??? I tried using a few Q-tips dipped in alcohol and i did get a rust colored ting on it after rubbing it on the areas mentioned above !!! Please, can someone help me out with this, i'd hate to have to send this MONSTER back after only having it for a few hour's !!!! If anyone can help me in this time of crises, i would sure appreciate it !!!

Thank You and Take Care, Mario C. AKA-Box27

Box,
I have the same coloration on my AR that I've had since Feb. I don't think it is rust. I am positive it isn't rust in fact. I don't know what it is for sure though. It hasn't spread, so I am not worried about it. Just a character mark for me. Maybe Mick or Duane know what it is. I wouldn't worry about it as it is Titanium.

I've got both the GB and the AR, and have the same coloration you describe ear the last 1/4" of the end of the liner. I was also concerned initially. It doesn't seem to be rust. It is more likely some sort of heat treat discoloration ear the last 1/4" of the end of the liner. I'm sure Duane or Mick can confirm.

My AR has the same thing. I'll bet that it is heat coloration in the Ti from grinding those notches into the lock bar. Just a Guess though :)

Sounds like a grinding scorch mark. If you are don't like the knife send it to me and I will look after it for you :)

Jeeze man...
It's a temper line.
I could blast it off, but its kind of like a proof mark.
