I sent out a knife to a customer that lived in Jersey back just before all this antrax scares came to light and he has not received it yet. I had contacted the Post Master from where i sent the package some time ago and he said that the trace showed that the package was finally delivered to the Jersey zip code but he couldn't tell me if it was delivered to the address. Here is where it gets messy....durring the time that i was trying to track this package, he has moved from Jersey to Texas. He claims that he has yet to receive the knife. He has contacting me requesting a refund or a replacement knife....The origional package was insured but the post office does't seem to be to concerned about reimbursment for the package. What should i do??? This customer is a repeat customer and I can't afford to loose him as a customer as he has expressed plans to order several more knives in the near future.

What is the process of being reimbursed by the post office? I have the receipt from the package.
Please help.........

Rob, I would go to your local post office and file a missing claim. They have some form to fill out I'm sure.

The package may be returned to you, it took 6 weeks for a letter to come back to me BEFORE the Anthrax scare. The postal clerk couldn't understand it but the postmaster explained the delay due to the letter "going into another loop." Now why couldn't I think of that! We can go to the moon and back a lot faster!

While I don't like the "one" delivery attempt the Post Office makes for a "delivery signature required," usualy making a trip to the PO to pick up the next day necessary, I now send anything valuable with a "signature required for delivery."

FEDEX signature delivery seems to work pretty well for receiving $$ stuff here, they at least will try delivery 2 or 3 times before you have to go to their location, they even check my ID after I sign at their office.

roy dont let the post office problem be in the middle of you and your customer. because you and you alone will lose. tell him that the money paid go's to his next order until you are able to sort the postal thing out.

Try going to the top, sometimes i think your local post office hopes you will quit, had a similar situation a while back, took 6 months to resolve.Hope you have better luck, and your customer is understanding.
