This is my own fault , or lack of experience I suppose, but thought I would share it with the folk here and see what happened.
Some time ago via ebay I aquired what was described as a WW1 Kukuri from a person (yuk) in the UK via ebay. I later found out it was not what it was represented to be, no problems I thought this guy said in his description he had a no quibble return policy so I sent it back with his approval. He immediatly re listed it on ebay and sold it on a buy it now $400.00 US. Well the rest of the story you can guess 500 emails and lots of promises by him no money now he does not even bother replying. Complained to ebay their reply was because it had been 90 days, nothing they could do (what crap!) anyway this ........ still wont give me my money back, has acknowledged he got it back,re sold it , everything just will not pay. Anyway dont expect anything but just thought I would get it off my chest. I can not believe their are people like that. Rod (the down under connection)

Rod,

You didn't mention how you paid for the item. If you paid via CC you can try to work with them to recover the payment. See if they can reverse the charges. Beyond that you can also file a report with the postal service.

"file" a complaint with ebay, it could get him taken off the sellers list, it might scare him.

Sam, thank you but I have all ready complained to ebay but they say that because I took 90 days to do that they cant do anything.
The reason it took 90 days was that the guy kept on saying he would send the money! . Rod

Sorry about your rotten experience on Ebay. I can tell you that even if you complained within the 90 day "rule", Ebay won't do much. That guarantee they advertise is a bunch of crap, IMHO.

N2S already mentioned trying to reverse the credit card charges. But it is probably too late for that now. Because you are in different countries, that adds to the problem.

Negative feedback is all that's left, I think.

Most transactions on Ebay go OK. But for pricey items I suggest you try to use their escrow service. The money is held until you get the goods and are satisfied. But that doesn't help you now. :(

websurfer. This is one of many Ebay horror stories, although the smooth sales and reputable people are the ones that keep it going.

You could do the negative feedback (should), also, just for fun, e-mail current bidders on any of his other auctions to warn them when you have the time.

I just missed getting scammed myself on a computer deal. Luckily, the scammer was dumber than usual and used a Post Box that didn't have someone available to sign for an express package :) I got my money back, but I could have lost $1800.

ANOTHER scam going around on eBay... people stealing valid individuals names and posting bogus auctions with a LOW BYE NOW prices. I e-mailed three people who won auctions with unbelieveable prices... ALL three thought they were scammed. TWO sellers who I e-mailed to ask questions replied that their IDs were stolen and the auctions were SCAMS!

SOMEONE in the Fed LE should be tearing apart eBay... all the above was during ONE DAY of surfing!!! Imagine how much goes on over a year's time period.

Good luck with your problem. I don't know (other than the reverse CC idea) of a way to get your $$ back. But you might be able to make his auctions a bit harder :D

Thanks to everyone who has contributed their thoughts. This guy sells lots of edged weapons on ebay out of England . I paid via paypal and because of the time delay thing , That also is a lost cause. It is not so much the money just the fact that people like this can just so easily get away with it . Anyway I guess it is part of the learning curve but sure leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
I might come across some vets in the UK one day that will be able to go and see him for a friendly chat!. Rod

Isn't there a "Good, Bad, and Ugly" forum somewhere in BladeForums? It might be worthwhile to relate your experience there.

Yes, Post his name here, in Blade Forums general, and in any other weapon forum you can think of. If you sell something on EBay, is there a way you can also slip in a tag in the middle of your sales paragraph about this guy?

What is just super about this guy , is that I explained that I was a Viet. Vet on a pension with a sick little daughter and could not afford to through away money , no probs money is on the way says he. YEAH! never mind I feel better now as I know the mighty wheel turns and this F..k will get his. Rod

I did a search for MikeRivers on ebay and found his feedback. It shows feedback on 1 item bought in August of 2001. Is this the correct user id? Maybe I'm not doing this right.
