I'm sure thus has been addressed here before, but i'm new to this board and could use the advice. I totally SUCK at sharpening. Is there an affordable Sharpening System out there somewhere ? Or just any plain ol' advice on sharpening blades ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the most affordable one is in the form of stone - free hand sharpening. Get a cheap knife, and start practicing

:D

Get a Spyderco Sharpmaker. It is one of the most highly regarded sharpening systems on the forums. You can find it for around $50 online. It's only negative is that it takes a realy long time to reprofile an edge, or sharpen a real dull knife.

the Spyderco Sharpmaker is a great system. Also, you can buy diamond rods seperatly for the Sharpmaker that make reprofiling much faster. The ultra-fine rods are worth checking out as well, as they can give you an even scarier sharp edge than the regular fine ( also sold seperatly ).
