Does anyone out there know what method of shipping HI usually uses. The reason I ask is that I ordered an AK several months ago and it never arrived. I emailed Uncle Bill to find out if, at this point I could cancel the order. Well, he was very courteous, and got back to me quite rapidly, but it seems that somehow they had a. received a request from me to exchange the AK for an M - 43. I don't remember ever submitting this request, so it's probably just a simple misunderstanding. Maybe I did, but I'm fairly certain I didn't. The worrisome part is that they said they never received the AK back, so that they could exchange it. This makes me concerned that it may have been shipped, but got lost before it got to me, and therefore I have to track it down. Any help on how to do this is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Lagarto, sorry bout the problems your having. I think UB uses USPS Priority mail standard and what ever else the customer wants, if they request it.

UB is great to work with, see what he can do for you first, but if you feel the need to contact the shipping company I would recomend you do the following:

First get all the information on the item that you can from UB. Specificly when was it shipped, what service, was it insured and for how much, address on return label, address on shipped to label, address shipped from, also threw what carrier? If it was the USPS like mine always are, then call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777). If it was FedEx the number is 1-800-Go Fedex. UPS and DHL you'll have to look up since I don't know them.

Good luck!

You've managed to confuse me with your post. You ordered an AK but waited months for it to arrive without contacting Bill?

HI ships US Post.

Maybe your wife(substitute brother, mother or roomate) beat you to the mailbox and wanted an M43 instead? Didn't see a mysterious triangular box in the trash you took out did you?

Uncle normally ships USPS, shipped DHL for a very very short time. I have ordered and RECEIVED well over a 100 HI items over the last 3 years. .
Depending on where you live, I live in NM, I usually get the item in 3 days. Only once was my order mishipped to another address. I waited the normal 3 days and queried Uncle Bill about it. He found the problem and I immediately got my order.

Strange that you would wait for SOOOOOO LONG to wonder what happened to your order!!!!!!

Uncle has OUTSTANDING customer service, but you need to keep in touch............................

I just got my first blade, the silver mounted AK 15´. It was sent July 13th and arrived August 17th. I was very worried, contacted HI several times, got the response we have to wait two months before aplying insurance. I lost all the hope. Then after returning from week long trip I found a notice from postman that I had a box from USA. I ran to Post office and got my FIRST precious.

The point is I live in Czech Rep. Europe and I am sure I have to blame only the custom in my country. My package was considered custom-tax free so I am not surprised they did not hurry when they expected no money from it. :( Or maybe they screened the package and it took them one month to decide if I am allowed to own such a blade. This is not only my first, this is the first in my country if I do not count some museum displayed pieces. :D

Finaly - two days of happines here so far.

Cos,

What are the gun, knife and sword laws like over there? When the communist goverment fell did they re write all the laws or adopt them? I have always wondered how that worked?

Well, during the comunists period you were not aloved to posses hand gun. You could have riffle for hunting with special permission. You had to be "organized" in hunting society which was privileged bunch of people.

Now you can buy everything you want but you have to pass some tests of handling the gun securely, something like car licence tests. You must be "clean" - no police records. Part of the tests is the psychotest.

I am not gun owner so I never had to go deep in the gun law.

Knives and swords - that is different. There are no rules about the blade length, blade opening mechanisms or something like that. I live in the Prague city and can see people carrying sword in sheath over treir shoulder. The hobby sword figting is popular here. Lot of groups performing their shows around the castles during summer.
Anyway, I would feel inapropriate walking on the street with my khukuri hanging on my belt. I would rather put it in my bag. But when I would go to the trip to countryside with my backpack I would not be affraid wearing my big knife on my belt while waiting for train in city railwaystation.

I read curiously about laws in US from time to time and must say we are much more happy with our knife laws here.

Yeah, after another friendly email from UB I've pretty much determined that the mail system is at fault. I think things may have been sent to Siberia by USPS, I've had that happen with them before. I apologize(d) to him for all the confusion and have decided to take the matter up with the post office. Wish me luck.
