I really want to start making knives and I have no idea where to start. so Ive got a couple of questions for anybody that makes knives.

What do I need to get started?

Is there any good books or videos on knife making?

The book that really did it for me was Step-By-Step Knifemaking: You can do it! by David Boye. I got it used on amazon for $6 including shipping. Best money I ever spent. It's the only book I've used and it got me to where I am now.

You've got the most important thing already, the "want toos"

The books that did it for me were Wayne Godard's "Wonder of Knifemaking" and Ed Fowler's "Knife Talk"

Tool wise I started with a couple files, a hack saw and access to a drill press, though a hand drill will get you started. The fanciest grinder in the world is at it's basics just a faster(a LOT faster :D ) file.

Wayne Goddard's $50 knife shop is a good start.

David Boyes book is the first I ever got my hands on.

Bob Loveless put out a good video. It shows you some basics but mostly it shows you how Bob makes a knife.

Bob Terzuola's book is the best there is on making a linerlock folder.

There is a book by Ron Lake, Frank Centofante and Wayne Clay on making lock back folders that is excelent.
