I am interested in making a skeleton GW out of a fatty.I've never had any of my GW's undressed, Is the blade solid underneath or is it somewhat skeletonized already. Also if has a double-cut or satin finish, does it have the same finish under the scales.

Solid!!!!!

Hope you have some water jet equipment.

Or carbide drill bits and tons of time!

Keep us updated with pics.

I have a friend in the granite buisiness who uses a water-jet CNC machine, I think it will cut the INFI just fine.

Here's a pic of a .170" thick Game Warden without the slabs on. Randucci, after making a slight grinding mistake ;), posted these pix when he came up with a great idea on how to save the knife. I'm fairly sure that all the GW's are the same way underneath the slabs...i.e. not skeletonized, but I believe the coated ones are coated and the uncoated ones are 'naked'...Neither satinized nor doublecut (I may be wrong on this!), but you can always call Busse during business hours to make sure before getting started.

Hmmmm... why would we want to do this? I'm trying to get handles on my knives and you are trying to get them off? Why?

I hope that ya don't mind me posting this pic of yours, 'Ducci. It is the only GW that I recall seeing the handles off of and that I could find the pic of as quickly. :)

No problem, it is the guys that use your photos to resell the knife they bought from you that bothers me, especially on eBay.

I sometimes carry a skeletonized warden in my pocket, I don't like folders. I know own a half dozen or so skeletonized knives from many manufacturers. I don't like the feel of most of them, mostly due to the handle size and design. I will make the skeletonized portion of the GW like the skeletonized swamp rat without the bridge in the center. By not using a bridge it will make parachord wrapping very simple and straightforward, If I choose to do so... It would be "the tank" of all skeleton knives by far... As to why I want to remove the handles it seems to me that almost every manufacturer makes such a knife and they are extremely successful, I believe they have a legitamate seat at the table. Ask Jerry why he removed the handles on his... I am aware the weight will be an issue, but without a bridge I don't think it will be as heavy as we might think. I love the feel of wardens and think there design is "inspired genius". I just wanted something with a little more substance and inherant strength. This would definitly be the "mother" of all skeleton knives.... Mostly I wan't one because it's something I can do myself. I just wonder about necking it?.........not.
