could somebody help me out and recommend their favorite book(s) on knife making? just need some general info and not sure where to start.

Welcome to the forums. You'll find this to be a great starting point for making knives. Any books by Jim Hrisoulas, Wayne Goddard, Ed Fowler are really good. The people who play on this forum are very noligable and very helpful. Just as good as any book if not better.

Hey Allen, I am just getting into knifemaking myself and the first book I got was "Knife talk" by Ed Fowler. It's a collection of articles Ed wrote for Blade magazine. It's not really a step-by-step do this and you'll have a knife. But still it is an excellent book!

The next one was "Knifemaking: a complete guide to crafting knives, Handles & Sheaths" by Bo Bergman. It goes into good detail on the handles and sheaths, but not on blades.

others that were suggested to me that I have yet to get are -
"Step-by-step Knifemaking " by David Boye This has 10 diffrent projects from what I have seen.
"Custom Knifemaking" by Tim McCreight
"The Gun Digest Book of Knifemaking" by Jack Lewis and Roger Combs
"How to Make Knives" by Richard W. Barney and Robert W. Loveless
(get the old printing instead of the 95' version cause the pictures suck)
"Wayne Goddard's $50 Knife Shop" by Wayne Goddard

That's about all I've got. Welcome to the forums! (Glad I'm not the only new guy):)

Allen welcome.
What kind of knifemaking? If you want to try
forging then Ed Fowler is the way to go.
If you want to make some dust then try Barney
& Loveless
Folders then Bob Terzuola book.
I have all three & they are good books
Even if you don`t hammer steel you still
should read Ed`s book lots of info.
Ed & Lovess has vidoes also.
If you have any questions just jump
in & ask someone will be happy to answer
it:)
