Electrician here, I second the PM2. When it comes to boxes and even stripping insulation off of wire he'll want something the slices well. I like using my ZT 0801 on the job a lot too, although it doesn't strip wire as nicely.

Spyderco Delica, a nice steak dinner, a nice bottle of bourbon, and some money in his wallet.

ETA, I'm a steam fitter, and a Delica served me just fine.

Knife works exclusive Yojimbo 2 with s90v. Compression lock is somewhat lefty friendly.

Strong vote for CPM-D2. It works hard. The Maxpedition Excelsa might be a good choice.

My best friend is a mechanic. He rotates two BM Grips...one I'm sharpening, the other he is abusing the F out of...works well.

I'm a lineman and use the zt550 for my needs, I occasionally cut sheath on conductor. I actually ordered a custom today to replace my lineman's skinning knife on my body/tool belt.

Ok I picked up a zt0562cf for him to try out and if he hates I mean I'll just keep for my self lol we will see how he likes the flipper and right hand frame lock but I think he will be fine
