Helping HI and Yangdu

I told Yangdu I wanted to write the second book, and I wasn't sure if I'd have the same amount of time to help HI. I figure it's better to be a failed novelist than a former moderator. Last time I wrote seriously, I had time to help; doing what one is supposed to do in this life gives one energy- and love. It was easy. Instead of less posts, and paying attention to silly things, I was able to concetrate my devotions.

But just in case I turn into the bitter, need of counseling, inappetite Troll, foaming at the mouth and outcast from main society, as contrasted by this very August body, I wanted to say a few things.

One; may of you, Dan Koster being first, were helping Yangdu and HI before I even knew how to pronounce her name, and I know Kismet and Nasty, Norm and Sarge, and many others have offerred assistance. Bill is gone and Yangdu cannot hardly ship the damn stuff alone, let along monitor this forum, and answer all the messages.

I think if something is wrong in this forum one of her friends should tell her. She simply cannot read all this.

Two; this forum will always be about sales, helping people, hunting and fishing and survivalism, but if it is to remain the open forum of personal and soul sancturary Rusty spoke so often about then something has to change.
Josh talked about this, I did; and so many others continue to offer example if not open admonishment.

Help Yangdu. Help yourselves.

What does this mean? Are you stepping down as moderator, leaving the Cantina to join a cult, leaving the country, getting a gender re-assignment? What?
 
I've always been a member of one, seeking a moment where I exist, next to someonelse who also wants to exist; you'd be surprised how easy it is- people want to found.
I'm not very much at all. Really, it's kind of pathetic. The only things I have over the years are the connections; made in supermarket lines, gasoline lanes, early in the morning or midday; all want to be acts and one act plays,
Now, if that didnt' answer your question, maybe this will: I've been a friend of the Cantina and forum for a long time. I've had popularity and trust, come, and go. Some of that is no one's fault, and some is mine, the lack, and some of the best, that which stayed, I can never repay.


I'm asking for Yangdu, for help.
She need friends. And the best way, is how we treat each other here.

I tell stories. I always have. And I'm going to write another book. Please help each other and this forum; is this not still a great place?

Let's skip the munk afterglow;

if things seem wrong in the forum- tell Yangdu.
If a product is out of whack, price or otherwise, yeah, let her know.
If people seem unhappy- say something

she does not have Bill any longer.

And if things seem ...weird, answer back in this damn forum- it IS YOUR FORUM.
If it is not, a lot of us have wasted our time.

And frankly, I wouldn't let any thread get censored without understanding why, and that's even as I respect and love Nasty.
I guess it... comes down to who controls this community.

Not any one man, not me for dog sure, and not anyone.

Bill censured speech on the tip of the saliva on his tongue; or not at all.

OK, skip my observations of the direction of this place; help Yangdu.

I'd like to help, munk, but I'm not sure how. A forum is made up of its members. Collectively, they create it. We can't expect this to be the same forum it was when Bill and Rusty were here. They are here no longer; things change.

All I'm saying is; she needs picts posted, help. There's a confusion on a thread and it's complicatied; help. Someone even needs prayers and Yangdu had not yet seen the thread; let her know.

Rusty is not here. Bill is not here. We are, damnit...(8^^333?? ing hell; we are.
So what are we gonna do?

I just sent Yangdu an email offering to help in any way possible. I suggest forumites who are concerned and willing to help do the same. I'm sure Yangdu knows she can ask us for help when she needs it, but it never hurts to remind her.

Been there for sure, but the reminder is good Josh. I hope Yangdu knows she can ask me for anything. I have sent her unsolicited suggestions from time to time re: models and pricing (as well as forumites I would like banned; just checking if you're paying attention! ;)), and she is always quick to respond. She also knows she is always free to ignore them! :D She is no slouch as a sharp business woman in her own right AFAIAC.

Don't worry Munk. I know you have taken on a lot of the burden of support for Yangdu, but there are a lot of folks here who can help, and will be more than happy to do so. You did right letting us know you might not be as available in the future for her though.

I still consider myself new here, but I'm certainly willing to do anything I can. HI is a special company, and this is a special community.

Back in the day...I did a lot of the website and store stuff...have even helped sell stuff on the forum. Unfortunately..those were the "good ole times" and I haven't been much help lately..trying to get this knifemaking thing off the ground and running.

A big help for me would be any folks who could help update/maintain the website (might already be somebody in place...I don't know)...would be nice to see the latest models up there (like the chitlangi bowie, samsher, etc.)

I just don't have the time anymore. I've talked to Yangdu about it...she knows...and we're OK. I'm very loyal to the forum and H.I. - as much now as ever before.

I imagine some of our newer folks probably don't realize what goes on "behind the scenes". If any of you are willing to help out, feel free to do it. Be specific in expressing your talents/abilities and don't overdo it (get in over your head).

I still would like to have someone compress these videos I have here for the forum...:(
 
Daniel, I have offered my support to Yangdu in the past concerning her computer issues. Part of that expertise is also my skills as a webmaster. If I can help in any way please let me know. Sometimes though my time is taken up with school and work but I will always attempt to help out HI as Yangdu has helped me out in many ways. I wish to repay my debt to her and HI in any manner that I can.

I've done web maint and design in the past, and certaily could again, if need be. I'm a mite busy until mid-November, but after that I'm certainly all in. I'll email her to that effect.
 
I would like to help in any way I am able . As I will be leaving the forum my ownself at the end of November I don,t see what I can do . I can only support H:I: as best I can while I am here .
 
My contract with my cable company internet provider is up near the end of November . Dec 6th to be precise . It is not a choice I make so much as a fact of life .

It will also give me a chance to write more . It is not ideas I lack or ability to express them . It is the discipline to put them down on paper .It is not the writing that is a chore . Re-writing almost always is . It is as if I am forced to re-read a novel that I am already intimate with . That is in fact exactly what I am doing . The only saving grace is I get to change the little mistakes and add the nuances which may help to get my ideas across .

I will miss you guys buts lets not have the funeral before the patient is dead .
