Hello!
I have finished a project made from inspiration from Norse Mythology.
According to old sayings there is a death goddess called Hel, that lives in Helheim and she has a knife that she makes people it with. It makes the user more hungry the more they eat. The knife is called Sultr.
The realm is dark and cold, and it rains and snows there the whole time. The last light you see is the sparkling of the river Gjöll, and from the bridge Gjallarbrui.
The stars are made into the damascus, and I took this pattern and mixed it with a snow crystal, to make the intarsia in the box.
The blade is made by Vladic Daniluk. The bolsters are wholecast 925 silver, carved and oxidized.
Handle is made of mammoth ivory, same pattern in the boxjoints and intarsia.
The whole box and the knife stand is made of ebony. Everything is made by hand, and by eye measurements by me.
The box is also lined with synthetic silk. Alot if silk has been found in Osebergskipet, and old vikingship they have excavated.
I used synthetic silk instead of real silk, cause real silk would dry out the leather.

The sheath is made of rawhide leather, with a wooden bladeguard on the inside. The inside of the wood is again covered with soft leather to protect the blade.

Hope you enjoy.

Very Nice Set.
I particularly like the Damascus and that Mammoth is very unusual and beautiful. Nice touch continuing the pattern in the ivory to the guard and butt cap.

Lovely piece. The handle material is very nice and the blade steel looks great. Thanks for the background story, Norse Mythology has some great stories.

I love seeing this level of craftsmanship. It is very inspiring. Thank you for sharing this. Wonderful work.

That center pattern of Damascus is truly eye catching to me. It reminds me of pattern and dollar bills.
