Greetings my fellow knifemakers,

The 2012 year Helsinki Knifeshow is over and it was as always a very well organized and intimate show. Not too big and not too small - just perfect for the location and the city of Helsinki. A big thumbs up to Pekka (Pukkopekka on the forum) for pulling this of with a minimal staff of people helping him.

I love this show as well as the city and I will try to show you it in pictures from my point of view. I do realize that I focus more on the tables and the people then on the knives themselves, but I hope you'll feel what I fealt when I took the picture. As always it is hard to have the time to walk around for a few hours when you have a table yourself.

The pictures is taken from a gallery at my homepage and if you want comments to the pictures you can visit it: Helsinki Knifeshow 2012 from the view of André Andersson

Enjoy!

Thank you for posting these, fantastic knives on display- I noticed that you also had a few South Africans visit?

Love the damascus work on the Puukos.

I posted too soon- your last picture is superb, congratulations.

Thanks again,

Thank you, Andre! It's been a decade since I was in Helsinki and it was great to see pictures of knives there. My friend Magnus has some fantastic pieces on his table.

The knife you sold has wonderful details and I especially like the sheath that completes the package!

Andre, thanks f.or the pics. Looks like a very nice show. I noticed that Roger has turned grey completely LOL. You made some very nice knives for the show, I love that short sword. The pic above that short sword is that one of Johan Gustafsson' knives?

Thanks for the comprehensive photo coverage - much enjoyed and appreciated. Some really spectacular work there. My faves are that last piece of yours and the big Hogstrom dagger. Great stuff!

I enjoyed this thread. Thank you!

The market for those Scandinavian hunters must be SO competitive. Everyone makes them, and they all look good!

I saw the backside of Koji Hara. Not too many makers at 5ft (1.5m) tall....!

Thank you.

Thanks for the photos Andre. Hopefully sometime you will have more time at the show in the future to give more closeup images of the knives. That being said, the knife of yours is absolutely wonderful. Everything you do just seems to go one more step beyond. The owner of that one will have a lot of fun handling it and displaying it.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you appreciated it.

Marcel: Yea, Roger might be a bit grayer then last time you saw him, or is it just the light in the show-room?:)
Yes, it´s Johan Gustafsson. You got the names for the pictures on my webb-page gallery.

Coop: You should see the knifeshows in Sweden like the Swedish Championships... even more of the Scandi-style there... But yes, it´s allot of them at the show and they are all of very high standard.
If we look at the sell they are very popular with the Russian customers who are the biggest group of the shows visitors. Maybe because in Russia, if the guard covers more then 5mm of the front finger (or if the knife is double edged) it´s considered a weapon and you must apply for a license before crossing the border. That is not that hard, but you have to bring two knives when applying to bribe the guy who gives the license to you. (a dealer I know explained it to me). A scandi have no guard.

Thanks Andre! I love your approach to a knife show... the people are more important than the knives! Great pictures! Thank You! Jon Moore

MrAndersson, thanks for posting these pics - and especially the link to the website where we could see comments explaining whose knives we are seeing in each picture.

André

I belive You don't mind if I put a link for some photos here :)

Thanks for that link, too. However it would be nice if there were some comments to let us know who and what we are looking at with each picture.
