I'm looking for a nice sowbelly. Preferably with damascus blades. I can across a nice looking Hen & Rooster, but I'm wondering about their quality. Any thoughts?
I have a Damascus Doctor's knife by them. Nice quality, made in Spain, and took a good edge. Snap on main blade and secondary blade is OK. If you want a Sowbelly, I'd tell you to look at Case.not sure if they ever made that pattern with a damascus blade, though.
Can't comment on their Damascus specifically. However I do have a second hand H&R whittler in my edc rotation and have no complaints on any front with it.
The ones I've handled seem to be of reasonable quality and by all means fine users or collectables however I don't think the quality is what it used to be, but still I think they are decent.
I have the stag/damascus trapper. I am more than happy with the quality. The damascus blades have a solid snap and they sharpen up nicely to an edge that will shave. The stag scales are nicely fitted with no gaps near the liners. I have carried mine now for over a year and the only complaint is that the nickle silver bolsters must have a high content of other materials because they get a brass-ish color when they begin to tarnish. For the $100 I paid, I couldn't be happier.
