My friend showed me his JA Henckels folder. I thought it was pretty sweet, and after some research, I found out it was the copperhead model. The only place i've found them for sale is on amazon.com, but it's over 50 bucks. Anyone know other sellers?? These knives don't seem to be too mainstream.......

I know of few sellers with a nice selection of jigged bone copperheads. Click on my name and send me an email or a personal message and I'll send you a link or two.

A stag handled Henckels copperhead at $50.00 is probably about what it will cost. However, at least on my computer, if you open Google in a Web Browser, type in Henckels Copperhead and hit the enter key, you can find a lot more than just Amazon sellers.

If you are looking for a good price on a Copperhead pattern, you might Google "Frost Copperhead" too. I have one of their Steel Warrior versions and it is a nice sharp copperhead and around half the price of a Henckels. Tons of these available on Ebay.

Even better deal you might look for a Copperhead pattern on Ebay by Rough Rider. Around 10 to 12 bucks and the RR's are getting darned good reviews lately. With an Ebay search put in "copperhead zix"

Henckels has not made a folding knife in over 50 years. They have all been contracted out since 1960. The early contracted out knives look very much like the original Henckels made ones. However for the last many years the Henckels branded folders are just 'run of the mill' knives that happen to be branded "Henckels". Nothing special about them what-so-ever.
I would take a Rough Rider over these current "Henckels" any day.
Better to get your hopes dashed here than after you've spent $50-$75 buying a name.

rprocter is correct in his info. i used to collect the older henckels since i knew a little about older knives. at one time before the remingtons came out in 1920 the henckels were one of the best cutting folders in the world. in tex. real hard to find older ones since lots of people know what to look for. if you like the looks of these knives check out the german made line of bokers. bokers are good but not in same class as old henckels & old hen & roosters.--dennis

I think Boker was making most of them and from what I understand they're not making anymore.

I have a 4 blade stockman ( 3 plus a punch blade) and it's nice , but as the others said nothing special.

i have one in green bone, seems pretty similar to my bokers. it holds a good edge but one of the scales has gotten loose. I think I picked mine up for about $35 a while back from either SMKW or knifeworks.com

I would say Boker also, the bone standard jigged bone on both are an exact match. This does not include the latest Chinese made Henckels.

Definitely Boker made. But this is the first I have heard of the new Chinese line; do you have a link to some of those?

they say carbon on many and stainless on some, are both german made (boker?), all chinese?,
found a nice copperhead and stockman and was thinking about them...

I had a 1950s/60s (?) Henckels stockman that was excellent. The carbon blades took a great edge. I wish that I had kept it. I haven't seen one of the new ones.

Here's one with carbon blades that was made by Henckels:

I have another stockman that I think was made right after Henckels quit making its own pocketknives.

I got this Henckels stockman because of it's 4th blade-- a pretty neat configuration that I haven't seen elsewhere. It wasn't very expensive, but it makes a great user. Made by Boker, and probably no where near the quality of the originals, but it' a great EDC for me!

This 3 1/8", 4-thick, pearl Sleeveboard Multiblade is branded: A.Kastor/& Bros/Warranted/Cutlery but it is pure vintage J.A.Henckels.
It began to snow as i took these pics so there are a little rushed.

Damn...Thank you Roland for showing what a REAL Cutler can do!...whew...thats a hell of a handfull there matey!

Thanks for posting those pictures, Roland. I wasn't aware that Henckels made knives for Kastor, but it sure does look like a Henckels. Lots of quality there.

the older Henckels knives made by Boker were excellent as were the Bokers made in Gemany. great fit and finish , excellent blade steel (1095) and good snap 5/6-7
