How were they? I've been doing some reading and I'm not sure what to think of them. I found one I want but am having second thoughts now.

Folders, FBs or Carving sets ? can you post a pic ? Henckels stopped making their own folders about 1960. from the Henckels i have(pre & post '60) the quality has gone progressively downhill.
i find it hard to tell from pics if a knife is pre '60 or early post '60. inhand one can see the blade stock is usually thicker on the ones made by Henckels.
would sure like to see pics of knife you are interested in.

Well I don't have it yet. It's a folding knive. Dogleg whittled in stag. Al I know is it's carbon steel brand new and made in the 70's. I was just wondering overall about the 70's era of henckels.

70s henkels were certainly decent knives. good stag , fit & finish.as mentioned a gradual decline since in later years. ditto to pre 1960s knives which were world class. in 1935 shooters bible a henkels sold for 3 times what a remington asked.

Back in '72 or so I bought a Henckels stag folding hunter lockback (with a raised release) that I carried for years. Great little knife that I can trace my collecting obsession back to.

no argument from me the remington was in production only 20 yrs. but is still the 2nd most collected knife in america.

Olbertz and Boker made them for Henckels after 1960. Probably not too hard to figure out if the one you're looking at resembles a Boker.

I had a 1970s era one that seemed to be of decent quality.

Well it Seemsbi won't be getting one yet. I was gonna order one on the bay but the seller has stopped me from being allowed to bid on his items. He did it because I got a little short with him about not responding to a question in a timely manner and bein a smart ass in his reply. Just gonna have to keep an eye out for another stag handled large stockman from henckles or hen and rooster. This sucks.
