Odd question, but a guy at work is looking for a sheath for his chef knife. Its just an 8inch 4 star Henckel. I believe he's looking for kydex sheath(doesn't know what kydex is though) and I don't recall seeing anyone have one of it. I believe he wants one cause of the hard tile and stone floor at work is murder for all tips, and doesn't want to risk dropping it. Hell I lost the tip on a howling rat that way.

Anyone know if any sheaths like that?

Err... okay :3

Theres somethign better than a sheath if he is using it for the kitchen, there are these magnetic strips you can buy that hold your kitchen knives in all sorts of positions.

They can be bought at chefs stores etc...

Yes, they are very good. Try to mount them at waist level though over a worktop. One of my chefs managed to knock my Global filleting knife off the rack putting another one on it and snapped the tip on a quarry tiled floor. Managed to get it replaced quoting 'over tempered'.

A place that sells Japanese knifes might sell sheaths as Japanese 'table chefs' holster their knife between use.

I have a Swedish boat filleting knife that has a hard plastic sheath. I got it from a ships chandler.

There is something already availble thats kinda like a sheath. If you go to a restraunt supply store some carry a folding blade cover something like this you cant strap it to your waist but it'll protect the knife blade from damage. If not you could probably have one made by On Scene Tactical they make the best kydex sheaths and Erics a good guy.
