I have a Henckels stockman with walnut handles that is a good looking knife. However, the back springs on the sheepfoot and spey blades are weak, to the point where there is very little "snap" when closing and the blades have to be pushed almost all of the way closed.

I'm just curious about your opinions regarding the quality of Henckels. By comparison, my 28 year old Uncle Henry stockman has a good snap with each blade.

Thanks,
Raja

Henckels quit making its own pocketknives in the early 1960s. Boker and Olbertz made them for a long time and United Cutlery imported them. Most of them are OK, but not near as nice as the ones Henckels used to make.

I have a 4 blade Henckel Stockman with the same problem. Out of 8 of the 4 blade Henckel Stockmans that I have bought over the last year only 1 has this problem. I do beleive this is more prevalent on German made knives than US made ones. Mine are made by Boker.

All the Boker and Henckels I have are with softer springs.
They are fine knives
