FedEx came today and after the first set up (about 3 hours, complete 4 season set w/snake skins) the second set up was in about 5 minutes. These things are nice. Any other users out there?

Yep, I have mine with snake skins also. I like it. I like it alot. :D I use it whenever I I can find trees spaced properly which is most often. I have not used it without trees to set up yet, but I intend to.

A couple of poles and some para cord and presto, you have a one man tent.

Had it set up on the back porch today and this week we'll test the undercover, overcover and insulation pad. Was in it today with out the rain tarp and found it to be a bit breezy inside. In cold weather the whole packag is needed. Will be a good week to test it, in the teens with snow.

What is this? forgive my ignorance, but I have never seen one of these, or heard of one.

I've got one and have suggested it others here. If I'm going out without my wife I'll be leaving my tent at home. it's the most comfortable camping I've done and lighter / smaller than a tent! I do have a story though, I Kayaked around Isle royal with my dad last september. It would sometimes get a bit warm so I started tying the rain fly almost level to allow wind to pass through better. some time around 1:00 am a major thunderstorm rolled in. Out on the big lake on that Island the thunder rolled like nothing I ever heard. Had a hard time sleeping through it but was impressed with how dry I was being off the ground and was again very happy to have the thing. The rain was pounding on us and I would drift in and out of sleep due to the thunder. Around 4:30 I suddenly awoke looking straight up at the grey sky with rain pounding me in the face. I thought my dad was playing a mean trick on me and I yelled "what the H*** are you doing??" looking around more I realized he was still in his hammock and due to the fact I had strung up the fly so flat, the water built up on one side and the added weight pulled the fly completely off. We were planning on leaving early that morning so I had all my stuff packed including my rain gear. By the time I got it ou I and my sleeping bag were drenched. My dad never heard me yelling or rummaging around for my gear. I just got the stove out and made coffee. and he woke up right around the time it was ready.

Anyway, I attribute the rain fly mishap to my setup procedure and not to the quality of my hammock. Learn from my mistake gentlemen and you will stay dry.

Also got them there little funnel hickeys. Attach them to the fly, screw on a couple of bottles and you have automatic fly tensioers. The more it rains the heavier the bottles get and the tighter the fly gets. Can't wait to try them.

I have a couple of them. One thing that bothers me, the mosquitos will buzz around your head from the outside of the hammock, you will swear they are right inside with you, drives me crazy.

Just remeber to tie off the fly spereatly to the tree not to the support ropes for a good tarp pitch..

Will bug repelant sprayed to the net keep them away?

I've had some bad experiences using bug sprays on nylon. They buzz around the bottom of the hammock, right where I lay my head. I do use sort of a made up pillow, but eventually my head is back on the bottom and those skeeters buzz me awake at 2AM

Do not use DEET on plastic. It is a plasticizer. It will melt plastics and nylon. That isn't just in theory. I have had it happen on a nalgene bottle after touching it with DEET on my hands. Took the finish right off the bottle. I'm just glad I didnt' have more DEET on my hands.

Nice pics Deerslayer, is that the Capella I see there, I have the same boat, very tough and a joy to paddle.

You saw my Dad's boat, Not sure what it is exactly... At the time I had a 14''4" Dagger which I Found to be fantastic. It was a bit small to feel comfortable out on the big lake with the waves hammering. There are parts of the island where the shoreline is miles of sheer rock. You capsize in those areas, the only option is to get back in the boat 'cause going to shore would mean getting pummeled. I'll put a few more pix there now that I know it works.
