HEPA/Air filters?

Go to my wife's web site - www.shaklee.net/church. There is an Air Source unit that requires no filters only once a year modular insert change. Better than a hepa filter. contact her if interested.

Worth the money? Waste of time? Made by whom? How big?

Anybody know?

Thanks!

Andy

Worth the money if you actually need that. What makes you think you need one?

If it is NIOSH certified N100 (usually mask systems) or actually is a HEPA certified filter you will know what you are getting. If it is HEPA like or a HEPA type you know what that means. Its not a HEPA filter.

Depends on what you are filtering. I have one, and the biggest thing it filters is cat dander out of the air. Cat dander is easy to catch, and I sleep better with it in the bedroom. Its made by Holmes, and its pretty small, although I didn't put it in a very large room, just the room where I breathe the most. I think most of the better quality filters catch the normal dust, mites, dander and crap that irritate you. They don't catch it all, but may catch enough to help your nose or allergies. I also think a lot of the claims are overblown hype.

Really depends on the dust conditions in your house. When I lived in a place that had 3 dogs that lived indoors having one was a huge benefit, it managed to pull enough dust out of the air that the small filter it had needed replaced (I cheated and vacuumed it) every 3weeks instead of 6 months as it does now.(and this place was vacummed once a week) I kept it pointing at my head where I slept . I recommend a larger unit than you think you need if you're going to get one, the filters will last way longer and the bigger ones actually tend to be a bit quieter. Going big means more flow and more air filtered, if you're going to do it make sure you don't go too small. I'm just guessing but I bet that in places where you don't have central AC running most of the day with a filter that a hepa would provide more benefit.
