Any opinions on the Herbst? How strong is this knife? How light? How well does it fit in the hand? How smooth is the action, and how reliable the linerlock?

thanx,

I like the Herbst. It a very smooth operating knife. Very well made. It's not a really lightweight knife but it is also not too heavy and it feels good in the hand.

I don't know exactly how strong the lock is but, from the looks of things, it is at least as strong as any other knife Spyderco makes, and as reliable as any well-fitted linerlock. The blade is a good shape for general cutting chores and it is areally good looking knife. Well worth the money.

I have had them in stock now for awhile, and although they are not great sellers, when a knife enthusiast sees them for the first time the reaction is favorable. I have sold a few. I have been getting $149.95 for them in my store and the ones who have bought them haven't complained about the price. I think you could do a lot worse than the Peter Herbst.

I've handled the one I got for my son and I really like it (although I haven't cut anything with it). It rides easily in the pocket, but has a nice heft in the hand. Good grip. Verrrry smooth pivot and seems to lock up tight. Very attractive too, IMO, and scary sharp out of the box. I wouldn't use it like a Wegner or Military, but I'd sure be happy to carry one for lighter chores.
